Start of Christian Aid Week.

8-30am onwards United Benefice Rogation Walk
starting at St John the Baptist, Layer de la Haye, and finishing at St Mary the Virgin, Layer Marney.
The walk is in place of our usual Sunday mid-morning services and starts with breakfast from 8-30am at Layer de la Haye Church. This will be followed by a brief act of worship before we walk over the fields and the heath to Layer Breton Church where there will be light refreshments. The walk continues across fields to St Mary the Virgin, Layer Marney, where it will conclude with a Communion Service followed by a buffet lunch. On the way there will be the blessing of crops, fields, gardens and a farmyard. We hope to have with us the Revd Anne-Marie Renshaw, Priest-in-Charge of the United Benefice of Tolleshunt Knights with Tiptree and Great Braxted. (It is expected that our benefice will be united with this benefice, some time after the Revd Martin Clarke retires later this year.)
It helps in making catering arrangements to know in advance how many there will be for breakfast and/or lunch. If you are planning to join us, please sign the form in one of our churches or telephone the Revd Martin Clarke on 734243 or the Revd Julia Russell Grant on 330235. There is no charge but there will be opportunity to make a donation, if you so wish, towards the cost of refreshments.

Sunday, 24th June 2012 BIRTH OF ST JOHN THE BAPTIST
3-00pm Ordination Service at St Michael's Church, Myland.
At this service the Revd Julia Russell Grant is to be ordained Priest by the Bishop of Colchester. As a priest, she will continue to serve in our united benefice.
Please remember Julia in your prayers as she prepares to take this major step and starts to exercise her ministry as a priest in our parishes.

9-30am United Benefice Holy Communion at St Mary the Virgin, LAYER BRETON.
Please note that there will be NO 9-00am service at Layer Marney and
NO mid-morning service at Layer de la Haye.
